The Science Behind This Test
This assessment is based on the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7) and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), two of the most widely used and validated anxiety screening instruments in clinical psychology and research.
The GAD-7, developed by Spitzer and colleagues in 2006, has demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.92) and good test-retest reliability. Studies show a sensitivity of 89% and specificity of 82% for detecting generalized anxiety disorder.
We've augmented the clinical screening items with questions exploring anxiety patterns, triggers, and coping mechanisms. This provides a more nuanced picture beyond a simple severity score.
It's important to note that this is a screening tool, not a diagnostic instrument. Anxiety disorders are complex conditions that require professional evaluation. This assessment can help you understand your experiences and decide whether to seek professional support.
